Margaret at Dazed Starling tagged me on this fun exercise in fives. I answered the questions quickly because I am FRIED after spending what seems like one more day in a series of seven hundred where I have pondered Henry James’s life and work. I suspect I’m in fact stuck in some sort of Henry James-themed Groundhog Day loop due to a past indiscretion or insult. If so, whoever you are that strapped me into this 19th – early 20th century American Literature Hell Ride, I’d like to step off now. Thank you.
Okay, onto the List o’ Fives:
What were you doing five years ago (December 2003)?
1. Working as Lead Trainer at Women’s Initiative for Self Employment
2. Working in my own company Right Brain Left, developing and running workshops for creative entrepreneurs
3. Writing a column called “Small Business 101” for Bay Area BusinessWoman
4. Complaining about how tired I was
5. Signing up for my very first fiction class at UC Berkeley Extension
What were five things on your list for today?
1. Researching my final (It really is the last one, right? Right?) Henry James paper
2. Writing this blog post
3. Finishing my Christmas shopping
4. Working on the novel
5. Finishing Spunk & Bite
(Note to self: #3 and #4? Yeah, right. Those get pushed to the weekend.)
What are five snacks you enjoy?
1. Doritos (nacho flavor)
2. Nuts of any kind – almond, cashew, pistachio, macadamia, peanut (I know, a legume), even the homely Brazil nut
3. Popcorn
4. Triscuits
5. Edamame
What are five things you'd do if you were a billionaire?
1. Buy a three-bedroom apartment on the Upper East Side. Nothing fancy, but spacious.
2. Buy Carlton the Doorman to go with said UES bachelorette pad
3. Travel – Africa (not the whole continent, but I said this would be a fast response), Antarctica, Prague (my people!)
4. Donate to charities and endow a full-ride scholarship for the Queens College MFA program (I know this is two things. It’s my list; I’m allowed to cheat.)
5. Go on a mother/daughter shopping spree, although we’re both so sensible we’d probably skip 5th Avenue and end up at The Gap, Banana Republic, and J. Crew (obviously we’re not only sensible but way too preppy)
What are five jobs you've had?
1. Parking lot attendant at La Jolla Bank (four spaces, no fees: easy)
2. Deli worker (I still have the scar from a fight with the meat slicer)
3. Legal secretary (The computer screens were black background, yellow type. I am that old.)
4. Retail slave, multiple venues
5. UCSD orientation leader
Who are five people you want to tag?
1. Erika (although I don’t know how she’d make this theme work with her blog)
2. Mikkelina
3. Beth
4. Alex
5. Jenna
6. (More cheating. Michelle, maybe you could make this your Word After Word coming out of retirement post? And Jed. Okay, really, I’m done.)

Duly noted! Thank you, Deonne. I'll see what I can do.
Thanks Deonne...I may try blogging again once I finish applying to grad school.
Good, and good!
Deonne,
have I then been officially tagged? Ok. i think I can think about it...question 1 I think is the hardest for me...but I will try...
thanks for including me!
Love your answers!
Mikkelina - yep, you've been tagged. That first one was hard for me, too, and in fact I had to look at my resume to jog my memory!
Cool. I will work on my fives soon! (might be after my mini-vacation)
Alex - Excellent. We'll wait.
